The world of marketing is ever-changing.  

What will 2022 bring to the world of marketing?

1. Personalize, personalize, personalize

Between social media, online articles, blogging, podcasting, live-casting, webinars, and so on, it has never been harder to get the attention you crave from your customers. So how do you fix that?

Instead of casting a large net and trying every marketing tactic under the sun, focus your efforts on finding where your target audience is and meeting them there. Not only should you be where they are, but you should be speaking directly to their pinpoints and engaging them with more personalized messaging. 

The keyword is personalized. Speak to a small group of people with words that resonate with them most instead of speaking to the masses and wasting time and money on people that are not your ideal customer. 

2. Focus on using more short-form video  

According to HubSpot, short-form content is the second most effective trend marketers are leveraging.

What does this mean for your business?

While we know that long-form video can be very effective when sharing large amounts of information or detail, people enjoy consuming short-form content that skips all fluff and jumps directly to the point. We can see the success of short-form video in action by looking at platforms like TikTok, Reels, and Instagram Stories.

In 2022, trade some of your longer videos for a couple of short videos. And look at where your target audience is to see if platforms like TikTok, Reels, or Instagram stories are right for you.  

3. Lots of events will be virtual – embrace it! 

In 2020 and 2021, lots of events were required to be virtual. With this necessity, we saw a huge uptick in software supporting virtual events. However, now going into 2022, virtual events have become the norm.

Having a virtual event is easier than ever before! Use this to your advantage in 2022 and plan some virtual events that you can promote and encourage your prospects and customers to join. Instead of avoiding events, utilize virtual events as a part of your standard marketing strategy.

4. Mobile optimization has never been more important 

It's no longer enough to have a pretty website on a desktop.

Having a mobile-optimized website is more critical than ever with the growing amount of time people are spending on cell phones. When marketing to fast-paced, highly connected generations like millennials and Gen Z, it's essential to spend time focusing on your website’s overall mobile experience.

You need to have a website that is easy to navigate, user-friendly, and fits the screen dimensions of a cell phone. Going into 2022, spend some time and money updating your website’s mobile experience, so you don’t accidentally lose potential customers before they ever look around your website. 

5. Work on building a recognizable brand  

We live in a world where you are forgotten or left behind if you don’t have a strong brand. Having a brand that is recognizable and well-known is a tremendous asset to your marketing efforts.

In 2022, invest time and money into growing and creating your strong brand. This could include building a better website, growing your social media platforms, hosting webinars that people can attend, sending more promo emails, and focusing more on your target audience. Overall, creating that strong brand will lead you to more success in your marketing efforts.
