10 Tips for Getting Your Team Onboard with a New Marketing Automation Platform

Today we're talking about getting your team onboard with a new marketing automation platform.

As someone who works with many sales teams, I understand the hesitancy businesses can have when it comes to making the switch from their current marketing automation software to something new. It can be intimidating, especially if the business has been using the same platform for a long time. There might be concerns that the new platform will be too complicated or that the team won’t be able to learn it quickly.

It can be daunting - yes, but addressing this challenge head-on is crucial if you want to succeed.

So, how do you get your team onboard with a new marketing automation platform like HubSpot?

Here are ten actionable tips to help you achieve success:

1. Involve Your Team in the Decision-Making Process

When you involve your team in the decision-making process, you create a sense of ownership and buy-in to help them feel invested in the new platform. In what ways do they want to make the new automation tool work in a way that the last platform did not?

2. Provide Training and Resources

Ensure your team has the necessary training and resources they need to get up to speed with the new platform. Provide them with training sessions, documentation, and support so that they feel confident and equipped to use it effectively.

3. Set Clear Expectations

Setting clear expectations and communicating them with your team is crucial to achieving success. Make sure everyone understands their role and how the new platform will fit into their day-to-day responsibilities.

4. Show Them the Benefits

Help your team understand the benefits of the new platform. Show them how it can save time, streamline processes, and help them work more efficiently.

5. Make the Transition Gradual

Introduce the new platform gradually so that your team has time to adjust to it. Don't overwhelm them with too much information all at once.

6. Address Concerns and Objections

Listen to your team's concerns and address them in a way that makes them feel heard. Addressing objections and concerns can help to build trust and credibility with your team.

7. Provide Support

Provide your team with ongoing support after the transition. Encourage them to ask questions and seek help if they need it. This can happen in the form of “Post-Switch” 1:1 meetings instead of group meetings – I found most people tend to feel more comfortable expressing and working through their tech challenges in these smaller settings.

8. Create a Feedback Loop

Create a feedback loop where your team can provide feedback on the new platform. Listen to their feedback and adjust as needed. This can easily be done in the form of surveys. I would add this as a supplement to the 1:1 “Post-Switch” meetings mentioned above so that you have a collective view of perspective.

9. Celebrate Small Wins

Celebrate small wins along the way to keep your team motivated and engaged. Recognize their hard work and efforts.

10. Measure Success

Set goals and track progress. Measure the new platform’s success and share the results with your team. Celebrate your successes and learn from your failures.

Making the switch to a new marketing automation platform can be a challenging task, but with these ten tips, you can make the transition as smooth as possible. Remember, getting your team onboard is critical to achieving success, so make sure you address any hesitancy head-on.
