The person who writes for a blog is referred to as a blogger, and the act of writing for the blog is known as blogging. Note: Google also has a blogging platform called Blogspot that is sometimes referred to as “Blogger.”

Why Bloggers are Important

To illustrate the importance of bloggers we’ll break down what a blogger actually is into two different categories. Content creators and thought leaders. Can one blogger be a content creator and a thought leader? Absolutely! And if you’re truthfully creating helpful and relevant content for your audience you’re more than likely on the way to thought leadership yourself.

A content creator is someone who does just that...creates content. This content will typically take the form of a blog article but is not limited to white papers, eBooks, infographics or videos. Regardless of the medium, this person is passionate about sharing new ideas and producing relevant information that ultimately educates their personas, bring themselves closer and closer to thought leadership.

A thought leader is someone who has been creating content in a certain field or industry that people are consistently finding useful. This information is constantly being shared via social media or linked to via other blogs creating credibility around this person, what they are saying and their blog.
