What is a Blog?

Written by LeadG2 | April 13, 2015

Definition of a Blog

This is short for web log or weblog. Blogs are usually maintained by an individual or group of people. A personal blog or business blog will traditionally include regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material, such as photos and video. Note: if you are blogging for business, you should always add a call-to-action to ensure your blog is generating leads.

Why Blogs Matter

Blogs provide fresh, relevant content to your company's website, and provide a way for you to communicate with your readers on their terms. Blogs help you reach your potential customers in a non-invasive way. Instead of trying to sell people whatever it is your company provides, you're answering questions at every stage of the buying process. When you give people enough content, you're allowing them to sift through it at their own pace.

Blogs help your website stay fresh, and Google gives more "juice" to websites that are updated frequently, which means, you're more likely to end up on the first page of search engine results when you have a blog.
